September 9, 2013 (Fairfax, VA) – Delegate Tim Hugo today announced that he has received the endorsement of both the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters (VPFF) and the Fairfax County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics – International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 2086.

In the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters letter endorsing Del. Hugo, President Michael Mohler stated, "The Virginia Professional Fire Fighters are dedicated to working with and helping to elect members of the House of Delegates who are committed to the idea that public safety, and especially issues that deal with fire and EMS are a basic core service of Government."

Upon hearing of VPFF’s endorsement of his candidacy, Delegate Hugo said, "Virginia’s fire fighters and paramedics are among the best in the country and it is vital that they receive the support from Richmond to ensure that they can keep us safe."

IAFF Local 2086 President, John R. Niemiec said, "Local emergency and first responders need a legislator like Delegate Tim Hugo. Someone Fairfax County professional fire fighters and paramedics can count on to ensure that our issues remain a priority in Richmond."

Delegate Hugo expressed his appreciation of the local firefighters continued support by stating, "I appreciate both firefighter organizations’ endorsements especially given the fact that my opponent was a volunteer of a local Fairfax County Fire Station."

As the third ranking member in the Virginia House of Delegates leadership, Delegate Hugo currently serves as the Majority Caucus Chairman for the House Republican Caucus. He is the Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee and also serves on the Commerce and Labor, Transportation, and Privileges and Election Committees. Delegate Hugo represents Centreville, Clifton, Fairfax, and Fairfax Station in Fairfax County as well as Catharpin, Gainesville, Haymarket, and Manassas in Prince William County.

The Virginia Professional Fire Fighters are comprised of more than 7000 members in 65 localities across the state.

Fairfax County Local 2068 Membership consists of over 1725 active and retired fire fighters and paramedics. Additionally, the membership is made up of mechanics from the Fire and Rescue Department Apparatus Shops and the 9-11 call takers and dispatchers working at the Department of Public Safety Communications Center.
