Today, I joined sixteen Doctors of Chiropractic, and eight administrative staff at the Springfield, VA office of Dr. David Dolberg to ring in Chiropractic Health Week in Virginia. I was the patron of HJ93, which designates the first week of October as Chiropractic Health Week in Virginia.

VDOT Alerts HOV Lane Closures

Beginning on Monday, September 8, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will change the reversal times of the I-95/I-395 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to their regular hours during weekdays, to accommodate rush-hour traffic flow.

The I-95/395 HOV lanes will remain open to northbound traffic until 11 a.m. and will reopen to southbound traffic no later than 1:00 p.m.

The HOV lanes’ reversible operations have been following a modified schedule during the last two months. Before, lanes had been open one hour earlier for southbound traffic, helping ease congestion on I-95 South, which was intensified due to heavy summer construction work.

Major construction remains underway in the I-95/395 corridor, requiring lane closures with potential traffic impacts.

The 95 Express Lanes project, which spans from Garrisonville Road in Stafford County to just north of Edsall Road on I-395 in Alexandria, is in its final months of construction, and is scheduled to open in early 2015.
Work is fully ramped up on the I-95 Shoulder Improvement project in Prince William County.
In addition, VDOT will be making some overnight HOV lane closures this weekend that could affect travel plans:

11 p.m. Friday night until 8 a.m. Saturday morning, VDOT will close HOV lanes on I-395/95 from the Washington, D.C. line to the end at Dumfries Road (Rt 234) .

A portion of the HOV lanes from the Washington, D.C. line to the Franconia-Springfield Parkway will remain closed on Saturday morning until about 10 a.m., but then will reopen.

VDOT will also close HOV lanes Saturday night at 11 p.m. and reopen them at 10 a.m., Sunday morning, September 7.
The lane closures are needed for ongoing construction work on the 95 Express Lanes Project. For more information about VDOT’s Northern Virginia Megaprojects, visit www.vamegaprojects.com.

VDOT has re-opened the newly replaced bridge on Twin Lakes Drive in Clifton, effective August 31. Anyone who was previously using the detour may now resume their normal route. The replacement also included improvements to the bridge, including the addition of a two foot shoulder on either side to provide further safety when crossing.
